Me and my two kids (22 and 18) are flying in for a couple of days in order to catch a Cubs game.
We%26#39;re looking for a good hotel that is near all the ';action'; in town that will also let us get to Wrigley Field easily.
Got any suggestions?
BTW, booked a Southwest flight from New York (Long Island) to Midway for only $29 each way.
Going to a Cubs GameWhat dates are you going to be staying and what is your max budget per inght?
Going to a Cubs GameI%26#39;ll be there July 16-18 and I am not too concerned about what things will cost.
I%26#39;m very interested in staying in a good location.
Also, I%26#39;m looking for a real ';Chicago'; place to eat. For instance, Baltimore has the famous crab cakes at ';Sip and Bite';, Boston has pizza at ';Reginas';, New York has great hot dogs at the Papaya King, and San Fran has wonderful Chinese food at the ';House of Nanking';. I%26#39;m looking for the Chicago equivalent.

Locationwise, the River North or Magnificant Mile areas downtown are best from a tourist standpoint.
This deal from the Swissotel - hotels.travelzoo.com/chicago-hotels/301360 will work for your dates. It%26#39;s a steal.
Foodwise - a ';Chicago place'; for food is a very broad subject. We have a vast amount of ethnic eateries in the city, especially in the neighborhoods outside of downtown. You can do a dining search by location, cusine, budget etc at chicagoreader.com and metromix.com.
Hi Pixfield, welcome to the Chicago forum. Hmm stay around N. Michigan Ave. you%26#39;ll like the area, clean, close to Navy Pier, shopping, Oak St., Millinium Park. just stayed in Swisshotel this weekend and we really enjoyed the hotel and location. Pool is only average but that would be the worst thing I could say. I%26#39;ll post a review later today. Price was great $109 on Travelzoo.
The L and bus system here is very good so any ';action'; is close by. If you search the experts here, you%26#39;ll find specifics about bus numbers and the red line to get you to wrigley. There is a free trolley that runs in summer too. If you get a good driver, it%26#39;s like getting a free tour. You must do the combo river/lake architural tour. There are several different companies so search for the best one.
I know you like good food (I%26#39;ve watched you on Paris forums) so I would suggest Buono, Big Al%26#39;s, Mr. Beef, or Portillo%26#39;s italian beefs, although everyone has a favorite among them, you can%26#39;t go wrong with any of them. Chicago dogs at wrigley (downstairs) or portillos, Gino%26#39;s East or Uno deep dish pizza, Also the Gyros in Chicago can be outstanding if you head across the highway to Greektown. My favorite downtown Mexican is Fontera Grill (Rick Bayless) but there are about 5 that are outstanding Mexican restaurants so you have others to choose from. The old famous Bergoffs (german) is gone, but there is still a cafe (although a shadow of the former) that carries their beer and several of the former dishes, worth a stop in if you are near there.
If you want a nice dinner try Blackbirds or Japanaise. Ruth Chris for steaks. I think your boys may like the Bucktown area too and there are plenty of good, small, restaurants there with personality.
And if you have the time try a walk, jog or bike ride along the lakefront. If you want a picinic thing by the lake, stop into a Treasure Island and hit the deli for all kinds of wonderful items to sack.
Au reviour, (sp?) I%26#39;ll be dining by the Seine while you%26#39;re in my city eating the beefs.
I%26#39;d go with the Swiss deal Dave suggested (hotels.travelzoo.com/chicago-hotels/301360) as it will work for your dates and it is a phenomenal deal.
BTW your plane tickets were less than my $33/day parking downtown, and that was in the public lot.
