Ohio Motel vs. Oak Park

Hello, I%26#39;m planning my third trip to Chicago and the past two times I stayed at the very reasonable CASS HOTEL, but of course it%26#39;s being renovated to become an expensive establishment. I%26#39;m a single guy who likes to spend less on my accommodations because I%26#39;m not in the room there much %26amp; would rather spend my money on other things (just as long as it%26#39;s clean). I%26#39;m always looked for good location but cheaper places are becoming hard to find. I looked into reservations at the downtown very old fashion OHIO MOTEL in the Near North section of the city and the CARLETON OF OAK PARK in the suburbs. I picked Oak Park because I%26#39;m a Frank Lloyd Wright freak %26amp; it%26#39;s not too far away via the CTA. Any thoughts about either hotel or which one to stay at during a 4 day visit in a few weeks ?

What dates are you looking at and what would be your max budget? I%26#39;d be happy to do some research and see if I can find anything else that%26#39;ll be better than your current options.

Have you thought about using Priceline or Hotwire? Nonrefundable so there is a risk involved but you get a lot more hotel for your money.

Are you looking at the Ohio House motel? There are reviews on the hotels section of Trip Advisor, the location is fine and there wouldn%26#39;t be a commute like there would be with staying in Oak Park.

If you are planning on spending time in Oak Park, you may want to stay at the Carleton for a least a night or two on your trip. While the Ohio House is conveniently located, it is a very basic motel on a noisy street.

Thank you for your responses already. To answer a few questions; I plan on being in the city June 10th -14th, I was hoping for close to $100/nite budget, %26amp; I was wanting to stay at only one location the 4 days - [driving in from Phila via Ann Arbor/Detroit visit]. I figured on spending only one day on FLW/Oak Park activities but w/ the difference in the City vs. Suburb Room Tax ,it would be an advantage as well as not paying for parking. I like experiencing public transit while traveling, but will the ';L'; from the Burbs wear thin during my 4 days - should I deffinately avoid Rush Hour ?

I believe there is a 3 Day Pass - where do I pick them up ?

Thanks again
