Things to do In Lake Geneva??

Hi, quick question for the fellow travelers:

Does anyone have any reccomendations for fun things to do while my wife and I are in Lake Geneva next weekend? We live in Chicago and will be going there to celebrate our 1st year anniversary. I booked a room at the Mill Creek Hotel. I%26#39;d like to try and find some fun, special things to do. So far I was thinking a boat tour and horseback riding (I heard that the Grand Geneva is the place to go for that). Any other suggestions? Any good restaurants as well? (that are not super expensive). We are more into places with different types of food and atmosphere as opposed to fine dining. thanks!

I enjoy Gilbert%26#39;s restaurant on Wrigley Drive. www.gilbertsrestaurant.com

There is plenty of shopping in Downtown Lake Geneva. Lots of speciality stores from fine foods to Irish Imports. It is a little too late for a round of Golf at Grand Geneva, but a Massage at Lake Lawn or Grand Geneva would be nice. Check out the Greyhound races at the nearby park. This time of year, visit a pumpkin patch/apple orchard. The Apple Holler in Stuartevant is a good one and is quite busy this time of year. There are a lot of Corn Mazes this time of year too. There is a huge one in Spring Grove. Maybe you could arrange for a private pilot to give you a lesson or a tour over Lake Geneva taking off from the Grand Geneva airport. It is a great way to see the Lake and the colorful leaves.

thanks for the tips! how far is that apple holler from Lake geneva?

and where is the greyhound racing too?

thanks

The greyhound racetrack (Geneva Lakes) that Brian%26#39;s referring to closed last year. The closest track that%26#39;s still open is -

Apple Holler = http://www.appleholler.com

Both are about 30 mins east of LG. Once you hit 294, head north toward Milwaukee. The Dairyland dog track is one exit up by the airport in Kenosha. The Apple Holler is by the first Racine/Sturtevant. If it is nice outside. Just look for the cars parked for miles around a place.

It%26#39;s I-94, not 294.

Hi,

I am planning on a weekend getaway with my husband this coming weekend (memorial weekend). We are not golfers but are more interested in something such as a boat tour, horseback riding, walking trails....an outdoor romantic getaway.

How was your experience....any suggestions....this is a bit last minute planning!.

Thanks.
