What would you recommend for an anniversary weekend trip close to chicago (3-4 days maximum)? We are not interested in Lake Geneva or downtown chicago since we have been there many times. We are from the Southwest suburbs.

If you want a luxury getaway, the American Club in Kohler, WI.
How about Door County (a little farther)? Lots of cultural/arts things to do during the day, especially in the summer months.

Look at Harbor Country in Michigan (along the southwestern shore of Lake Michigan) continuing up to the Saugatuck/Douglas areas. Many B%26amp;Bs, wineries, art galleries, specialty shops, nature areas along the way.
Look at their websites. Whatever you do, don%26#39;t go in a rush. Stop at each of the little towns up along the way and enjoy your time there.
If you drove straight through from Chicago to Saugatuck/Douglas, it%26#39;s about 3 hours (depending on the traffic). Note: Most of the B%26amp;Bs require a 2 day stay (definitely on weekends - maybe you%26#39;d find some that would allow less during mid-week).
Thanks! Those are great suggestions! We are planning on going late may and we are a couple in our early 30%26#39;s. I was thinking about Door County, but I wasn%26#39;t sure if it would be too far. I just started a new job and cannot yet swing more time off than a 3 day weekend.
I was thinking either Galena or starved rock. I will check out those message boards for more info. I am going to see what else sounds good in Michigan or Wisconsin also. I will check out those places you suggested on TI.

Starved Rock is very nice and Door County is terrific. Another suggestion is Devil%26#39;s Lake and the nearby spectacle that is Wisconsin Dells.
