In Chicago with a RV..

I am travelling across The united states with a RV and I am planning on staying overnight in Chicago to see a concert at Northerly Island and a Cubs game the next day. I was wondering if you could offer Tips as to where to park and stay safely overnight. I plan on using the CTA to get to the game in wrigley.

In Chicago with a RV..

Are you looking for an RV park? Or a hotel with a big parking lot?

In Chicago with a RV..

I would prefer to spend the night inside the RV. instead of paying for a hotel.

If you%26#39;re coming in from the north, consider the parking lot of the Hampton Inn in Skokie,IL. It%26#39;s fairly large and not too crowded. You can catch a CTA bus from there which will connect you to the CTA yellow and red line trains to Wrigley. Visit transitchicago.com for details.

A block east of the Hampton Inn is the Old Orchard shopping center. I%26#39;m not sure how friendly they are towards RV parking. They have security vehicles out in the lots all the time.

This RV Park is in the far southwest suburbs of Chicago Just off (literally) interstate 80. It has a Metra station about 5 minutes drive away for access to downtown LaSalle street station. This might be more of a commute than you want for heading further north to a ball game but is one option if you don鈥檛 find something better. Metra train ride to downtown Chicago is about 50 or so minutes on weekends.

Metra schedule is here

Hi, I am not 100% sure but don%26#39;t walmarts let you park an rv in the far end of their lot?'; If that is true maybe someone can recommend a walmart in the area you are looking at.

I was kind of curious about the Wal-mart situation...

If their is one near a CTA station could you please let me know..

Thanks for all the great advice it is appreciated..

We are comming from the Cleveland area...

you should be aware that trucks aren%26#39;t allowed on lakeshore drive...I would guess that includes RVs

The closest Walmart is on the West side, I would NOT park there. There is one on Cicero on 76th St, I have never seen any RVs there. The other Walmart is in Evergreen Park (95th %26amp; Western), no overnight parking there. So you might have to do the suburbs, and I don%26#39;t know how convenient that would be for you.

There is a Wal-Mart in Forest Park that is fairly close to the Forest Park Blue Line station. I haven%26#39;t been to that area in awhile, so I am not sure about the parking situation. The only other place that I can think of is the Wal-Mart on Touhy in Niles. That would be closer to Wrigley, but less convenient to a CTA train station.

The original poster is wanting to spend the night in the RV. That would mean they%26#39;d probably want an electric hook-up.

Even if Wal-Mart allows parking an RV in their lots (for a very short basis), it%26#39;s questionable if they%26#39;d allow it overnight with individuals staying in the RV. After all, if they%26#39;d allow that, why would anyone pay for an RV park?

reinsborough, take a look at the Indiana Dunes National Park website. They have RV parking in at least one of their lots. You can take the South Bend and South Shore Railroad into the city from the Dune Park station from there (about a 1.25 hour trip each way). You%26#39;d probably want the Roosevelt stop for Northerly Island and/or Millennium Park station to get to Wrigley Field. There is a Red Line station a couple west of Millennium Station, which takes you right up to Wrigley Field (Addison stop).

See NICTD%26#39;s website for the timetable and fares.
