I have rooms booked a the Ambassador East.
Is in a good location? Is it too far north from everything? What about the rooms, are they nice and clean? My wife likes nice sheets, etc. We also have 4 teenage boys, 15-17, with us. Will they like the location?
Ambassador East
Locationwise - the hotel is in the Gold Coast area. It%26#39;s not far from the Mag Mile area. Not bad from a tourist standpoint.
You might want to read the reviews of the hotel in the Chicago Hotels section of this web site. It%26#39;s an older property in need of some updating.
Ambassador East
Some of my family stayed here recently. Rooms were nice -- clean, comfortable, upgraded at some point, but still retaining the feel of an old boutique hotel. I was most impressed by their size. There were some renovations going on in the lobby. I鈥檓 not sure if those have been completed yet, but they were minimally intrusive.
Big selling points from my point of view -- the character of such a historic hotel and similarly historic neighborhood. I suggested this hotel to my family because they%26#39;re not familiar with the beautiful ';Paris on the Prairie'; side of Chicago that I really enjoy. This area is an old, well-established neighborhood, so anticipate quiet, tree-lined streets and lots of brownstone mansions.
It%26#39;s a nice location for the zoo, beach volleyball area, Chicago History Museum, Second City and Old Town. You%26#39;ll be a subway, bus or cab ride away from museums. The restaurants in that area are pretty expensive for feeding four teenagers; better get a list of reasonably priced places!
