Will be driving from Omaha with a family of four in early August. Hotels downtown are very expensive. Is it a stupid idea to stay outside the city and take mass transit into the city each day to sightsee?
Where to stay?Not at all. Just make sure your hotel is convenient to a transit line and you should be fine as the system is very easy to use in Chicago. Just keep in mind the times service is available on some lines so you don%26#39;t get stuck downtown and have to spring for a cab to get back. Multi-day transit passes are very convenient - buy them at the beginning of your trip and don%26#39;t have to worry about fares after that. Have you tried Priceline and Hotwire for good hotel specials?

Don%26#39;t know when my two college girls will done with work but I think we%26#39;re looking at the 3rd-5th of August. So wiil have 2 full days, maybe 3 full days to see some sights. This is a great site... Thanks for your help.
