Hi all,

Planning to spend a nice week in a secluded cabin with wifey on our anniversary. We%26#39;re coming from England and would really welcome some advice on which are the best sites to go to find something nice. I%26#39;ve tried on numerous occasions and am not getting anywhere.

Oh, you brits are such a scream. Why don%26#39;t you try the agency that rents rooms in Buckingham Palace?

If you mean a cabin within a couple of hours drive of Chicago, try the Starved Rock area of Illinois, the Lake Geneva area of Wisconsin, or Harbor Country, Michigan

I%26#39;ll second Lake Geneva. The Devil%26#39;s Lake area further NW in Wisconsin is another option, as is the Door County area.

Will check this weekend and see if I come up with anything. Seems that most of the people who own secluded places either do not rent or are not all that tech savvy. It may be hard to find something on line. If this gives you any idea what you are up against, I bought a guide to National Trust lets last weekend at Stourhead. My thought was that it would be easier for me and my partner to rent in the UK than to try and find a decent place close to Chicago.

Another thought - given how reasonable airfares are in the US, try looking at places in northwestern Wisconsin or northern Minnesota. You can always fly up to Minneapolis from Chicago..

Finding a seculded cabin in Chicago is like finding one in the City of London. You could try Galena, or maybe Lake Long Lodge. Basically, if you want a secluded cabin you need to go to Wisconsin which is very close to Chicago. They have lots of websites for Wisconsin. Try this one escapetowisconsin.com/modules/鈥?6

Frankly, I would skip the secluded cabin concept; I don%26#39;t think you will be very happy, nor would she. Try the Swisshotel.

@JGeraldC -- seems like every post you make, on this board or on various Wisconsin boards, promote the same one website for this cottage in Bailey%26#39;s Harbor...... Suggest you read the Posting Guidelines. This is not a place to advertise your cottage, especially without disclosing it as such.
