Monaco vrs Allegro

I can book the Hotel Monaco for $179 per night in August and the Allegro is $119 per night. I like the description of the Monaco but is the Allegro a much better deal or is the Monaco worth the extra. Thanks

Monaco vrs Allegro

The Allegro is not in a particularly convenient location in the West Loop. It%26#39;s not a far walk from there to State St. shopping, the Sears Tower, Art Institute, downtown theatres and Millennium Park, but Michigan Ave, Navy Pier are further away. The other issue is that, while a lot of the Loop can get very quiet at night, this area especially really does shut down at night. If you don%26#39;t plan to be out later at night, it%26#39;s fine, but otherwise, be prepared to cab around.

The Monaco would be the nicer, more conveniently located hotel, but that is a good deal for the Allegro, as it can often go for much more than that. It%26#39;s really a matter of what you%26#39;re looking for and what you want to do. If you%26#39;re going to be out all day and return in the late afternoon, it%26#39;s fine and you%26#39;re saving $60 that could go to something else. But again, if you%26#39;re going to be out all night, go with the Monaco.

I%26#39;m guessing there%26#39;s also other possibilities out there - if you want, please provide your dates of travel and how many people in the party and I can see if i can find other options.

We will be there Aug 25 to Aug 29.

Hotwire has what appears to be the James (a 4* Mag Mile/Streeterville with Restaurant, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Laundry, Spa) for $162. Keep in mind that Hotwire is a deep discount service is not refundable and the hotel is not confirmed until after purchase (and at that point, no refunds/changes.)

The Amalfi%26#39;s available on Expedia for $175.50. There you would get free breakfast and there%26#39;s also an evening cocktail reception. Personally, I%26#39;d go with the Amalfi for $175 (it%26#39;s higher on Orbitz and elsewhere) over the Monaco or Allegro, as the Amalfi%26#39;s well-located, very nice and at least you get some bonuses.
