Baseball question

As a baseball nut, I%26#39;ve always wanted to watch a game at Wrigley. Doesn%26#39;t matter who the Cubs play, I want to see one from the seats of Wrigley (although I%26#39;d rather see it from the bleachers, I understand those tickets aren%26#39;t easy to get).

My plan this summer is to see as much baseball as possible. Included will be trips to Fenway and Yankee Stadium and a lot of minor league stadiums in between and hopefully another major league one or two.

Most everything, however, is in driving range and could be pulled off in one day, even if a little tiring.

But then I got to peeking around and realized that I could essentially do Chicago in a day as well. Now I understand that would mean giving up the chance to see the city and experience other things, but this trip would be about baseball only.

Through Southwest I could get tickets for about 270 roundtrip, so this is what I was planning.

Flying into Chicago Midway at around 8:15 a.m.

Flying out at 7:55 p.m.

I%26#39;m planning on packing light. A backpack to carry my camera, a windbreaker, clipboard and scorecard and maybe some suntan lotion, so on and off the plane should be easy enough.

I see many Saturday games are at 12:05, so it seems like it works well. My big question is how would all the Chicago pros go about getting from Midway to Wrigley as I would prefer to do public transport as I imagine Taxis would be really expensive.

Thanks for any help!

Baseball question

When I was a kid, my family went on a road trip to see minor league baseball games throughout Illinois, Iowa and Wisconsin. Really fun trip that I remember fondly. We probably went to 6 cities or so? I have autographed bats that are just filled with minor league signatures. I should go check to see who%26#39;s actually on those bats. The only big name that comes to mind is Reggie Sanders.

In the case of getting to Wrigley from Midway, you could take the Orange Line ';L'; from Midway to Roosevelt. Change there to the Red Line and head North to Addison. Wrigley is a block or two West of that station.

You can find transit maps, fares and information at transitchicago.com.

Hi. Wrigley is a dream of mine also, and I%26#39;ll be there next week on the 15th! Just wanted to be sure you know that tickets are so hard to get, you may want to have them before you plan the rest of the trip. Ended up getting some from an online broker for $$$$. But I know it will be worth it. Have a great time seeing all your games. I am jealous!

You should not have a problem finding a bleacher ticket. The bleacher seating capacity was increased last year, and their prices have also been bumped a lot over past several years relative to other seating locations.

Also note that bleachers are General Admission.

It is relatively easy to get from Midway to Wrigley using public transportation. Take the orange line from Midway and transfer to the red line at some point. The red line will take you right to Wrigley.

You can use the trip planner to get the exact details. Here%26#39;s the link:

There is nothing like a beautiful summer day of baseball at Wrigley Field.

Enjoy!

The easiest transfer is Roosevelt Road. The Orange Line is above ground here, the Red Line is in a subway, but you can connect without really leaving the station.

Note that there are some bleacher seats available on select days, from the Cubs web site at face value (plus the usual fees). Per an email they sent us regulars earlier this week, here are your best bets:

Monday, June 25, vs. Colorado @ 7:05 p.m. - Over 2,000 seats remain

Tuesday, June 26, vs. Colorado @ 7:05 p.m. - Over 2,000 seats remain

Wednesday, June 27, vs. Colorado @ 1:20 p.m. - Over 700 seats remain

Monday, July 30, vs. Philadelphia @ 7:05 p.m. - Over 1,500 seats remain

Tuesday, July 31, vs. Philadelphia @ 7:05 p.m. - Over 1,500 seats remain

Wednesday, August 1, vs. Philadelphia @ 7:05 p.m. - Over 2,500 seats remain

Thursday, August 2, vs. Philadelphia @ 1:20 p.m. - Over 1,500 seats remain

Tuesday, August 14, vs. Cincinnati @ 7:05 p.m. - Over 3,000 seats remain

Wednesday, August 15, vs. Cincinnati @ 7:05 p.m. - Over 2,500 seats remain

Thursday, August 16, vs. Cincinnati @ 1:20 p.m. - Over 2,000 seats remain

If you want a weekend, you%26#39;ll need to go ';after-market';.
