Hi good people!
I will visit Chicago at the end of the May for the first time...
I%26#39;m passionate record collector so I need your help in finding record stores...
I%26#39;m interested only in little SECOND HAND stores - not in big department stores like Virgin etc...
Does anybody know the location of the store where Hi Fidelity, movie with John Cusack was filmed?
Also I need locations of stores that hold Sport%26#39;s Memorabilia??
Thnx
Vynil boy
records stores
One of your best bets would be Reckless Records, which is located just off the corner of Belmont and Broadway. The store holds thousands and thousands of used records, cds, DVDs and more.
records stores
vynil, what records are you looking for. I%26#39;m moving and I just ran across my old albums. Mostly 70%26#39; 80%26#39;s. I always thought I would listen to them again someday but it%26#39;s not likely.
Vynil,
Hate to disappoint but the record store in Hi Fidelity was a made up location. The stoer front used is in a great neighborhood called Wicker Park. There is a Reckless Records location there as well as Belmont and Broadway.
Also check on these two locations, HiFi Records on Clark and Second Hand Tunes on Clark as well. They are less than a block apart.
I would suggest getting on line and either using the yellow pages or google and search used record stores. There are plenty in Chicago and some neighboring suburbs. Will you have a car?
Thank you very much for the suggestions lads!!!!
I collect 80%26#39;s 12'; singles, especially New romanticism groups....Unfortunately, I will be without a car in Chicago cause I%26#39;m from Europe and will arrive with a plane.
Maybe some suggestion for sports memorabilia and shops with diecast car models...?
Best regrads to all!!!!

I know this post was from a while ago, but wanted to add that Hi Fidelity was modeled on Beverly Records on the south side of the city (116th and Western).
They are one of the last RECORD record shops - a no-glam family-run store that specializes in rare records (not just too-cool-for-school discs), with rows of dusty hand made shelves stuffed with vynil. I%26#39;ve found many amazing gems there over the years, and go back every time I%26#39;m in the city for a little nostalgia of the days spent flipping through albums and finally spotting the cover of that long sought-after 33. Walking on air for the rest of the week always followed. Still does.
Anyone coming to Chicago interested in records needs to know about this place.
