dvdmovie, you are so helpful and I am considering changing my hotel resevations but I would really like to know what you think before I do. We%26#39;ve never been to Chicago and are coming on Amtrak the end of May. Two moms and our 3 girls (9-12). We are planning to visit American Girl, Field Museum, Navy Pier, and the Science Museum. We are currently booked at the Marriott on Michigan and have the travel zoo rate of $119. We have two rooms booked for 2 nights and am not sure if we can sqeeze into one there or not. It would save $ if we could. I%26#39;ve called them and get different answers each time. I keep wondering if we should switch to the Swissotel at the travel zoo rate. I think we would need two rooms here. Since both are similar in price I just need to figure out which would be best for us. Which has a better pool and location to the attractions we want to see? Do you know of a better place for 2 adults and three kids? I value and appreciate your opinion.

I think you%26#39;re going to need two rooms in any case, as few hotels accept 5 in a room (most hotels have a max of 4) and those that do (such as the Embassy Suites properties) may still result in a party of five being a bit cramped.

The difference in location is extremely minimal. It%26#39;s maybe 3-4 blocks between the Swiss and the Marriott. The Marriott is right on Michigan Ave. and closer to American Girl, but the Swiss is a few blocks closer to the museums. The Swiss is somewhat more luxurious and has the better views (although not guaranteed, , as it%26#39;s by the river and lake.

It%26#39;s difficult to recommend hotels without knowing exact dates or budget, but these two hotels are fine choices. The Marriott is right on Michigan Ave vs. the Swiss being a few blocks away from Michigan Ave. shopping and offering somewhat more luxurious accomodations and views.

I%26#39;d go w/the Swiss for $109 via T/Zoo, which really appears to be the best deal for these dates. There%26#39;s some other fine choices (Homewood Suites) available, but they%26#39;re generally around double the Swiss $109 rate.
