hotels near O'hare

going to Chicago our first time and thinking of staying at a hotel near O%26#39;hara (save a few dollars), but how long will the subway take to get downtown? Just a general idea. Want to see if we should consider a different area which is closer. We did this in Boston. Stayed out of town and took the subway but it was only a 20 min ride. wanted to find something similar in Chicago. thanks.

There%26#39;s really very little *right* outside of downtown. O%26#39;Hare is about a 55-60 minute (depending) ride on the blue line. Evanston and Northbrook are very nice Northern suburbs that are about 30-40 minutes train ride.

Consider using Hotwire or Priceline for hotel to save a few $. If you want more specific hotel help, please provide dates of travel, how many in party and budget.

Thanks for the quick reponse. We were looking at Choice hotels in either Schering Park or Des Plaines. Both said they have vans to the subway, but an hour is a bit long. Will keep checking. Thx.

To a hotel search in Rosemont, IL. All of the hotels are near a CTA blue line station.

There is a Day%26#39;s Inn in Lincoln Park (nice neighborhood north of the Magnificent Mile area) that gets good reviews. It%26#39;s close to the brown and purple line trains which go downtown every five to fifteen minutes and is walking distance to Lincoln Park and the Lincoln Park Zoo. O%26#39;Hare area hotels have pretty good rates on the weekends because they cater to business travelers. But during the work week the price can increase by 25% to 100%. I am flying out of and into O%26#39;Hare in July. I chose to stay at the Courtyard O%26#39;Hare before I leave on a weekend night because they include 10 nights of free parking and have a good rate considering what I am saving on airport parking, and when I return on a weekday I will be staying in Lincoln Park because the rate is $70 cheaper. If you plan to use the CTA trains to get into and around the city, definitely get a CTA pass. You can order them off of their web site or get them at certain stations.
