Finding a hotel within your budget might be tricky due to a very large trade show here during your visit:

Jun 11-13

NeoCon庐 World鈥檚 Trade Fair 2007

The Merchandise Mart

Delegates: 58,000

Are you willing to stay in a nearby suburb and commute downtown via train?

Yeah, that whole first chunk of June is pretty bad downtown. I could see if i could figure something out where you move hotels (one hotel has a deal only for a couple of days, one has a deal for another few), but if you%26#39;re carrying a ton of luggage, I don%26#39;t think that%26#39;d be what you want to do.

once again thanks for your time and effort folks for replying looks like we%26#39;ve picked the wrong time to visit !!any idea if its likely to be busy from the 13th or 14th to the 20th june ?cheers.if we were to stay outside the city and commute where would be the best (closest, safest, etc)places to consider .would it be feasible to stop anywhere near ohare airport ?thanks again

Do a hotel search in Rosemont, IL. It%26#39;s next to ORD. From there, you can take a CTA blue line train to/from downtown. It takes about an hour.

Are you completely flexible on June dates?

Also, would you be against using a non-refundable service like Priceline (basically, a service where you ';bid'; on hotel stays - if a hotel in the area accepts your price, you%26#39;re locked in there) or Hotwire? Hotwire%26#39;s really not turning up much, but Priceline could maybe get a 3* or 4* in either of the two main areas (River North/North Michigan Ave or Millennium Park/Loop/Grant Park) towards the top end of your budget range.

I just wanted to share my experience with priceline...it may help you. I posted that I wanted a hotel in Chicago, downtown %26amp; Loop areas and also River N. and that I wanted 4 stars. Then I put in $120 just to see. The first day, it was not accepted, but this past Tuesday I tried again, %26amp; it was accepted at $120 and immediately I was booked at the W City Center.

Once the price was accepted for one night, it asked if I wanted to book additional nights at the hotel for the same price. A 4 star hotel, A block from the Sears tower and 1.5 miles from Magnificent mile. It sounded too good to be true. Then I check tripadvisor for reviews, which are largely negative for the W.

You may get luckier with a better reviewed hotel, but with priceline keep in mind you have no choice about what hotel accepts your offer. As for us, we%26#39;re keeping an open mind about our priceline deal..maybe we%26#39;ll love it and if we don%26#39;t we%26#39;re only staying for one night.

The W does get some extremely mixed reviews, but if you go in with an idea of what the hotel is like, you may find the experience more enjoyable. The hotel%26#39;s dark style (both in terms of lighting and color) is going to be relaxing for some and irrtating for others. The most basic rooms are small, as well. However, the rooms are nicely furnished and the W Bed remains - I think - the top hotel bed.

The lobby, calm during the day, turns into an upscale nightclub-like scene at night. I ended up getting room service here, and thought (while as expensive as most hotels) it was better-than-average.

This hotel is by the Sears Tower and not far from State St. shopping, the Art Institute and Millennium Park, but keep in mind that the area is very quiet at night, as that area of the Loop largely closes down at night after the workers in nearby offices head home.
