Hotel and restaurant question

I need a suite in a downtown hotel with a 3.5-4 star rating in a good area (in the middle of things - stores restaurants etc...). What do you think is the best I can do?

Can you recommend some really great restaurants with the following parameters...

1. kid friendly (meaning it%26#39;s common to bring a 3 year old)

2. wonderful well prepared food

3. no chains

4. entrees are between $15-25ish

5. we like french, seafood, american, italian, indian

I have a reservation at the Omni for $150 a night and wanted to see if I could do better. So, the restaurants should probably be in walking distance (15-20 minute walk max) of the Omni (unless we stay somewhere less expensive!).

Forgot to add that my dates are late July-early August, 4 days...thanks!

Bump

Mon Ami Gabi. Banderas, Su La Casa, Weber Grill, Osteria via Stato, Rockbottoms, Portillos. I believe you can google them all for addresses, or use the search thread.

Other suggestions -

Leona%26#39;s (Italian) - Franklin and Erie

PJ Clarke%26#39;s (American) - Columbus and Grand

and it would be worth the cab (or 20-25 minute walk) to Greektown (around Halsted and Madison). My suggestions there are Greek Islands, Pegasus and Santorini (seafood is the specialty there).

I would add Brasserie Jo, as they have a nice outdoor area, and would delete PJ Clarke%26#39;s (as risk of having this post deleted by the moderators, every time I have been in there we have smelled some really funky smells. I wouldn%26#39;t have a meal there).

I would also add the Fox and Obel Cafe at McClurg and Illinois. It is an upscale grocery store with a great cafe. If you are walking to or from Navy Pier, it is on the way.

Leona%26#39;s is closed - it%26#39;s now Hop Haus, which has ';creative'; burgers - it%26#39;s gotten good reviews so far.

Quartino%26#39;s is great small-plate Italian spot. It%26#39;s almost always busy and loud, so kids are welcome.

Volare%26#39;s another good Italian spot with outdoor seating, and it%26#39;s just a few blocks from Navy Pier.

For Indian, India House is a good choice. I%26#39;m not sure how kid-friendly it is, though.

Seafood: McCormick %26amp; Schmick%26#39;s. There are two locations. One%26#39;s close to your hotel, and the other%26#39;s in the Loop just south of the river.

Brasserie Jo is really great for French cuisine.

BTW - that%26#39;s a great rate for the Omni! You%26#39;re right on Michigan Ave.

Gramd Luxe Cafe...kind of a chain, it%26#39;s owned by Cheesecake Factory and has a similar menu but a different atmosphere.

cpfoutz-I meant grand lux, not Mon ami gabi, I just got back from Las Vegas, must have still been thinking of that city...

I%26#39;m curious where you got %26#39;the Omni at 150/night? I am staying there in June and it is at least double. I guess its the timing. I am also interested in restaurants close by. We have 13 and 15 yr olds. We are thinking of The Signature room and Gibson%26#39;s but want other ideas for less expensive restaurants but good. food
