I also thought I read about a good rate for July 4th? Is that still out there and what part of Michigan is it on? Thanks

Do you mind a non-refundable rate? How many people in your party?

June 15th is probably not going to have much. July 4th would probably be the best of the bunch if you can come that day. 27th and 10th should also have some possibilities.

The 4th special rate that was mentioned was the Westin Michigan Ave. for $149; not really a special rate - that%26#39;s just their rate for that date - it happens to be lower than their norm.

I do not mind a non refundable rate and there will be myself and my daughter age 15. Would July 4th be a good idea? Thanks

July 4th is great. My train tickets would be a great deal.

My thought would be, if you wanted to go cheaper, Hotwire or Priceline would be a good possibility. Both services are non-refundable, deep discount services. Priceline allows you to ';bid'; for hotels at a certain star rating in a certain area (for example, a 4* in the River North/North Michigan Ave. area) and if a hotel at that star rating in that area accepts, you are locked in there for the price you bid. If you are not accepted, then you can bid again slightly higher the next day. Essentially, in exchange for a non-refundable reservation to a hotel you do not choose (although you do choose the star rating), you get a much (and sometimes much much) lower rate.

Hotwire is a service that offers you a set of listings for your date. The listings offer zone (area the hotel could be in), star rating, amenities and price. You do not find out the hotel until after you make the purchase and, at that point, the reservation is not refundable. Given the information provided, it is sometimes possible with Hotwire to guess (although never a 100% guaranteed guess) which hotel is showing, based on the information.

For July 4th, you could take the Westin on Michigan Ave for $149. Hotwire doesn%26#39;t have much for that day, aside from what may be the City Centre hotel for $89. I%26#39;m guessing you could get a 4* via Priceline in the North Michigan Ave. for a $65 bid on this date, but again, you cannot guarantee which 4* you would get.

7/27 on Hotwire has what *may* (not guaranteed) be the Michigan Ave. Westin for $122 (4*, customer favorite, North Michigan Ave/Water Tower/Gold Coast, restaurant/fitness,business, internet) and what may be the James (4* Mag Mile/Streeterville, Restaurant, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Laundry, Spa $169), which your daughter may like (it%26#39;s a hip, trendy boutique right off Michigan Ave.)

What appears to be the James is also showing for 8/10 for $159.

Actually, if you were interested in 6/15, Hotwire does have what appears to be the Swissotel (4*, Mag Mile/Streeterville, Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Tennis, Spa, $134) for this date. The Swiss is not *right* on Michigan Ave, but it%26#39;s close. It%26#39;s right on the river. You walk a couple of blocks West, then a few blocks North and you%26#39;re at the South end of the Michigan Ave. shopping area.

Please ask any questions prior to making a purchase on Hotwire or Priceline. Overall though, there are options under your range for all of your dates.

Thanks dvd for the info. I just booked the Ambassador east for July 4th. for $122.
