Hi!
I am looking for some fun places to go this summer in the northern and northwestern suburbs with my 12- and 15-year old. (We%26#39;ve explored our western burbs thoroughly and we%26#39;re looking for different stuff!) Can be museums, waterparks, anything...I%26#39;m especially interested in activities/places that are unique. Can anyone give me some suggestions? Thanks!

Northern Suburb Activities for families w/ teens?Arlington Park racetrack
Medieval Times (your kids might be too old)
Ravinia for a concert
Chicago Botanic Gardens
Bristol Renaissance Faire (Wisconsin)
Six Flags in Gurnee
Lamb%26#39;s Farm
Long Grove
Elk Grove to see the elk
Take a drive up Sheridan Road, stop by the Bahai Temple, end at the Botanic Gardens or Ravinia. There%26#39;s also an excellent well maintained bike path that runs all the way up the north shore.
Thanks very much! Great ideas; I%26#39;ll be checking into them to plan our summer!
If you have never been.....Medieval Times is a blast....It is just outside Chicago in Schaumburg. Lots of fun. find them at Medievaltimes.com
Thanks! We just may try Medieval Times this year...

How about:
- The Lippizan horse show in Wadsworth
- Chain O%26#39; Lakes or Fox River canoeing - COLs also has horseback riding rentals
- Antiquing near Volo
- Science museum in Zion at the nuclear reactor
- Whirley Ball in Vernon HIlls
- Independence Grove forest preserve - beach, boat rentals, miles of paved sidewalk for in-line skating
- Paint ball - up near Zion somewhere (I think there%26#39;s a archery center in this area somewhere too)
%26lt;%26lt; - Science museum in Zion at the nuclear reactor %26gt;%26gt;
I%26#39;m not sure the Power House (this museum) is still around. The ZIon nuclear power plant has been closed since 1998. I%26#39;ve google%26#39;d for information and don%26#39;t see anything current (no pun intended). The City of Zion website does not include it in their list of ';attractions';.
Too bad, it was a nice little museum - neat exhibits for a range of age levels, and interesting architecture (Stanley TIgerman, if I recall correctly).
Thanks boomom and chipset; I haven%26#39;t been back to this in a while but decided to check this morning. I will check out your suggestions (but I guess not the museum in Zion!).
Thanks!
Melisa
