We are staying at the Residence Inn this Friday night--used Marriott points as we are attending an event at the Drake, and the Residence Inn looks like the closest Marriott property to the Drake.
Parking is $40/night at the Residence Inn. Are there any alternatives that are worth the difference in price considering we are staying only one night?
Parking Near Residence InnIf you have to drive, you would have to go pretty far out of your way to save $15-20 on parking, so IMHO probably not worth it. The Sterling garage, Millennium Park garage, etc., are over a mile away.
You could consider parking by a Metra or CTA station, or for that matter, taking Amtrak from M-town. If you take the CTA Red Line you could walk from Chicago %26amp; State. For Metra/Amtrak, probably grab a taxi. Still cheaper than parking.
Parking Near Residence InnYou could park your car at the Howard St CTA red line train station. It%26#39;s $2 for 24 hours. As noted in the previous post, you need to consider what your time is worth.
Thanks for the replies. I thought maybe there was something a block or two away, but the alternatives don%26#39;t sound worth it for only one night.
These parking garages are all within a block or 2 of the Residence Inn on Walton Street:
840 North Lake Shore Drive (312-642-4086) -- daily rate maximum charge is $20
221 East Chestnut (312-642-7366) charges $22 to park 24 hours.
200 East Delaware (312-266-0365) charges $23 for 24 hours.
Parking garage at 247 East Chestnut (312-280-0087) is $23 for 24 hours.
At 900 North Lake Shore Drive (312-944-0160) the rate is the same ($23 for 24 hours).
The garage at 275 East Chestnut (312-337-2520) charges $__ for parking 24 hours.
At 222 East Pearson (312-951-5499), the rate is $28 for 24 hours.
For comparison, the daily maximum rate for the parking garage at the John Hancock Center (875 North Michigan Avenue) is $32 (312-944-5994).

It%26#39;s got a searchable map. Some of the garages have prices listed, but if they don%26#39;t have the price there%26#39;s a phone number.
