For those who has dined at both, which restaruant would you guys recommend? Avenues or Everest?
I%26#39;m planning a private event was wondering which of these two restaurants has the better food. thanks.

There both excellent. Can%26#39;t go wrong with either choice. If you want a view go with Everest.
Avenues Vs. Everest
Both are wonderful places -- two of my favorites.
Avenues: Great location off Michigan Ave. Incredible food. A great mix in styles between what you see at Alinea (great tasting food with some very creative presentations) and the real attention to color and texture that you see at Charlie Trotter%26#39;s. Chef Bowles is one of the few chefs that I categorize as a genius.
Everest: Also has incredible food, but with more classic French influences. The main dining room has some great west views. An amazing wine list. Although it tends to be more classic, but in no way is it boring.
I personally prefer Avenues, but to say the least, reasonable minds can disagree on this one. Given the opportunity to have a meal at Everest, I would jump at it.
As stated before both are great. I give the food edge to Avenues, if you want a great view with great food, go with everest. Enjoy!
How much is the food and how much is the views at Everest?
I am not really clear on the last question.
I personally think the views at Everest are over-rated. In the early evening you get some decent views out west. However, those views do not compare at all to places that you really go for views (Signature Room, NoMi, Spiaggia, even some tables at Four Seasons). Sunset over the city is nice, but just not that great.
However, the food is excellent. A great modern version of French food. Chef Joho is Alsatian, so you have those influences along with a heavy Alsatian wine list. By no means is the food boring. It just does not feature the wild stuff you will see at Moto or Alinea or to a lesser degree at Avenues or Tru.
skeeter, have you been to dordogne for restaurants, and if yes where do you like?
Unfortunately, my experience with actual French cooking is limited to Paris and St. Bart.
