Hello. We are planning a trip to Chicago for the 13-17 of June. We have 2 boys 10-12 that will be staying with us. We are sort of picky in that the boys like rooms that have a seperate area for them. We have reservations at both but cannot decide. Has anyone been to both that would have a recommendation. Thank you
Homewood or Embassy Suites
Please take a look at the reviews on the Chicago Hotels section on this web site. I%26#39;d go for the Embassy Suites.
Homewood or Embassy Suites
If prices are the same, I%26#39;d go with Embassy Suites. Have not stayed at Homewood, just have a good impression of the Embassy Suites chain. There are 2 E.S. hotels in Chicago, but they%26#39;re only a couple of blocks apart. Both are located within a block of a full-service grocery store, which I find to be both convenient and a money saver.
We stayed at the Homewood Suites 3 years ago and thought it was a great deal for our family. We normally stay at Embassy Suites, but we chose Homewood Suites for that trip because the rate was better. The room was nice at the Homewood Suites, but not quite as ';plush'; as those at Embassy Suites. However, it appears from their website that they have just finished a big renovations of the rooms. The Homewood Suites offer a hot breakfast, but it%26#39;s not ';cooked to order'; as at Embassy Suites. They had a buffet table with hot eggs, bacon, sausage, etc. and then there were a couple of griddles for make-your-own-Belgian waffles (which were great.) The breakfast room was nice, but smaller than those normally found at Embassy Suites. But there are two things that were much better at Homewood Suites--1) they have a full-size kitchen, not just a minifridge and microwave oven that you find in most Embassy Suites. You could easily cook a meal if you wanted, and 2) the Manager%26#39;s Reception (offered M - Th only) offers more than drinks and nibblies as you would find at Embassy Suites. They call it ';light refreshments';, but it%26#39;s actually a meal (something different each night such as hamburgers, lasagna, etc.) We ended up eating our dinner there each night, so the only meal we had to pay for each day was lunch.
