Visiting for Crossroads Festival

I%26#39;m coming to Chicago for the Crossroads Blues Festival in Late July. It%26#39;s being held at Toyota Park. FYI, will be flying into Midway. I know NOTHING about Chicago, having only visited a couple of times on business, the typical fly in and out, see the office and the hotel shuttle type trips. I would appreciate help regarding a few things:

1. Where to stay -- we%26#39;d like to hit music clubs Friday night prior to the Saturday concert, don%26#39;t know where the clubs are, don%26#39;t know whether we should stay near Toyota Park, airport, downtown or elsewhere.

2. Car - do we need a car, or can we use public tranpsort from Midway to hotel, to the concert, etc.

3. Recommendations on where to go Friday night - restaruant, clbs, etc.

All help much appreciated!

1. Toyota Park is in Bridgeview. It%26#39;s a suburb southwest of MDW. A 20-30 minute drive. Assuming that you want to hit music clubs downtown, that%26#39;s in the opposite direction.

You can take the CTA orange line train downtown from MDW. Visit transitchicago.com for details.

2. No need for a car here.

If you want to stay near MDW - www.midwayhotelcenter.com

There%26#39;s a $1.50 bus shuttle from MDW to Toyota Park - www.toyotapark.com/about/article.asp…

3. Check the music listings at - chicagoreader.com. You can also do a dining search there and at metromix.com

Thanks for the general thoughts. Is Miday an ok area to stay? My experiene with Airport-area hotels is pretty mixed. Are there decent amenities in the area or would we be better off staying donwtown fo dining and clubs?

There%26#39;s really not much going on by Midway. I%26#39;d stay downtown if possible.

I meant to say, if you%26#39;re looking for a lot of nightlife - dining, clubs - stay downtown. Otherwise, stay in Midway or the SW burb of Oak Brook.
