I%26#39;m trying to plan a bachelorette party and I don%26#39;t live in Chicago. We have no interest in going clubbing or to the drag shows - so I%26#39;ve been looking for a lounge or bar with some other form of entertainment. It seems everything has awful reviews! The piano bars are apparently seedy and/or boring, all the interactive shows (Tommy%26#39;s, Tony and Tina%26#39;s, 80%26#39;s prom) have horrible reviews - I%26#39;m beginning to wonder if the reviewers just don%26#39;t know how to have a good time!
Can someone make some recommendations? I really want to plan a great event - with good food, good entertainment (that happens to be wearing clothes) and good music without the volume and smoke of a club. Please help!
Does everything have bad reviews??
May I ask where you%26#39;re reading your reviews? If you haven%26#39;t already done so, take a look at metromix.com and chicagoreader.com for some ideas.
If you give us some more specific information as to your requirements, I%26#39;m sure the bar/nightclub experts on this forum will be happy to offer suggestions.

www.chowhound.com is a great site.
Japonais has a great bar. Also DeLaCosta. There%26#39;s a new place called AIhambra that might be perfect for you (food/entertainment) or Room 21. f the Cubs are in town, the bars/clubs near Wrigley will be lively. There are a strip of bars along Lincoln Avenue (between Webster + Belden) that are always lively and you can just go from one to the next.
Ages? Time of the year? You%26#39;re wise to skip the interactive and drag shows, imho.
Howl at the Moon is great...it%26#39;s a dueling piano show that is quite entertaining and funny...and a very typical spot for bachlorette parties.
I never listen to the metromix reviews for nightlife...every one of my favorite places has tons of bad reviews. most of them center around snobby waitstaff/bouncers, long times to get drinks and too many good looking people. most of the time i think it%26#39;s because they%26#39;re jealous that others are better looking then them (and I%26#39;m not the best looking guy...I just don%26#39;t get jealous of those who are) or don%26#39;t know how to handle a popular nightlife destination.
try yelp.com. If you have more specifics about what types of music your looking for, your ages and whether you want a chill place or an upscale place I%26#39;ll give my thoughts...I%26#39;m not big on upscale lounges though, so my help may be limited.
It appears that Hbolli wants to have it all in one package - dining, drinking and entertainment. But, IMHO, it just doesn%26#39;t work that way in Chicago - or elsewhere, as a matter of fact.
What I%26#39;d suggest, Hbolli, is that you concentrate on finding a good restaurant which the bride-to-be would appreciate. Doesn%26#39;t have to be the fanciest place in the city, but what she%26#39;d like. Then go to a good show and out afterwards. Or go to the show first, and then out to dinner at a restaurant which has dancing later.
In any case, if you do all three, you know that you are looking at $100-150+ per person. For those on a budget, that might be a little intimidating but by breaking up the evening into different sections, those who cannot afford all can do at least some.
