Chinatown

Hi, can anyone tell me if chinatown in Chicago is anything like chinatown in NYC. Just curious if it is worth checking out or not. I have been to Chinatown in NYC several times and wonder if it%26#39;s worth taking time to go. Thanks.

Chinatown

Chinatown here is worth checking out. Chinatown in NY is better IMO than Chicago.

Chinatown

I probably wouldn%26#39;t put Chicago%26#39;s Chinatown on the top of my must see Chicago list although I go there frequently to have dim sum or shop at the grocery stores. It%26#39;s not so much a tourist destination as it is a real community. That being said, if you are looking to have Chinese food, it%26#39;s a quick 10-15 minute ride on the red line el and it drops you right at the entrance to Chinatown.

Personally, I think its great for asian cusine. . . but other than that, it seems very touristy for me. . . (As a fellow Chicago visitor) For a first time visit Chicago, I would place it low on the list. However, if your looking for more out of the way areas, you might stop by just to say you have ';been there, done that.';

I vote with Greg on this one,,,good food,but good food is EVERYWHERE in Chicago.And yes,NY is more impressive in the Chinatown dept.

I visited Chinatown in NYC many times before moving to Chicago about 12 years ago and was disappointed upon my first visit to the Chicago Chinatown. It is not as interesting and bustling with activity like in NYC. We go there often to dine out and eat dim sum. The food is excellent, but as mentioned by another poster, there is great food all over Chicago.
