Road Trip from FL

Planning on spending a night in Lafayette, Indiana- Fairfield Inn, on my way to Chicago. Does anyone know if this is a safe area???

Other option is Merrilville, Indiana (although I would perfer the first choice based on using my Marriot Points)??

I am assuming these areas can%26#39;t be too bad if they are right off the interstate, but you never know.

I also posted a similar question on the Indiana forum, but I thought some of you may also be able to provide some insight.

There is a Courtyard Marriot in Merrillville. You%26#39;d be fine in either area. If you stop in Merrillville on your way to Chicago though, you may as well drive on through as you%26#39;ll only be about 35 miles from Chicago. Lafayette is about 2 and 1/2 hours south of Chicago.

Thanks, well another reason I like Lafayette, is because that is as far as we may want to drive that night. Thanks for the info, so I guess Lafaytte is a ';decent'; area...

It%26#39;s a college town really. Purdue is in West Lafayette. Tippecanoe mall is there which is pretty small, but still something to do.
